Guitar Aficionados, Mark This Date

Among music fans, serious guitar enthusiasts form a unique and dedicated group. Those who admire great guitar work usually don't care if it's rock, blues, folk, or another genre; they just love to see what a talented player can do. Hey Nonny, the vibrant music venue and bistro in Arlington Heights offers music fans a special treat as they welcome Cary Morin live on May 2.

Known as one of the best acoustic pickers playing today, Morin has created a sound that draws from blues, bluegrass, jazz, reggae, and his Native American roots. Layered on top of his playing style are his songwriting skills and vocals that evoke a gritty world-weariness.

"You probably haven't heard of Cary Morin," said Chip Brooks, co-owner of Hey Nonny. "But once you see him, you won't forget who he is."

A trip to Arlington Heights is no big deal for the Montana-born Morin. He has toured extensively, thrilling audiences in France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Spain, Belgium, Denmark, and the UK. He has performed at the Kennedy Center, Lincoln Center, Paris Jazz Festival, Winter Park Jazz Festival, Folk Alliance International, the 2010 Vancouver Olympics, and the Copenhagen Blues Festival among others.

His talent has attracted the attention of peers as he has been asked to open on tours for Los Lobos, Jackson Browne, Bonnie Raitt, David Bromberg, Arlo Guthrie, Brian Stoltz, The Subdudes, and many others.

"That's one amazing resume," said Brooks. "We're so excited to have him step on our stage at Hey Nonny and do his thing. This is a key date for us to kick off a great summer of music. Having someone like Cary perform here is really the essence of Hey Nonny - let's expose music fans to extraordinary performers that will leave an impact. After the show, music fans will be bragging they know who Cary Morin is and that they saw him live."
