Harper College to host STEAM Fair for middle, high school students on April 15

Students of all ages are welcome to participate in dozens of interactive workshops and engage with STEAM leaders in a variety of industries at STEAM Fair 2023. Harper College, Microsoft and the Barrington Council for the Gifted and Talented will present the event from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 15, on Harper's Palatine campus, 1200 W. Algonquin Road. Admission is free.

At the STEAM Fair, students can explore coding concepts, discover connections to computer science that impact all areas of life and remotely drive an underwater ROV that sits 900 meters below the ocean's surface off the coast of California. They can unlock the potential of ChatGPT and Azure AI, participate in robot combat competition, get creative with AI in Visual Arts and explore space-inspired STEAM with Quest 4 Excellence, which partners with NASA and Space Tango. Plus, attendees can learn from keynote speaker and technology industry expert Danny Kim, connect with Microsoft technology professionals and build their own swag at the mini-maker studio.

Sessions geared to students in grades 5-8 will take place from 8:30 a.m. to noon. Sessions for students in grades 9-12 will take place from 12:30 to 4 p.m. Register at www.bcgt220.org/steam-2023 and check in at Harper's J Theatre (Building J, Room J143).
