Girls basketball: Glenbrook South's Rogers named CSL South player of the year
In voting on Monday by girls coaches of the Central Suburban League's South division, Glenbrook South senior Sidney Rogers was named the divisional player of the year.
The Titans point guard, headed to play at Division III power Washington University in St. Louis, has guided Glenbrook South to a 23-7 overall record and 8-2 in the CSL South, second behind 9-1 Maine South.
The 1,000-point scorer has been voted as an all-conference player each of the last three seasons.
Glenbrook South sophomore guard Gina Davorija joins Rogers on the 10-girl all-conference team.
Other selections include Glenbrook North senior guard Bryce Wolf and New Trier senior guard-forward Rachael Zacks.
In the Central Suburban League North, Deerfield senior point guard Lexi Kerstein was named the divisional player of the year.
Playoff picture
In seeding for the Illinois High School Association girls basketball playoffs, which start Saturday, Feb. 11, Maine South grabbed the No. 1 seed at the Class 4A New Trier sectional.
No. 2 is York, No. 3 Loyola, No. 4 is Glenbrook South, No. 5 is Evanston and No. 6 is Glenbrook North.
Glenbrook North, Glenbrook South both host regional openers on Monday, Feb. 13, with Loyola hosting its opener Feb. 14. New Trier plays in the second game Monday at Glenbrook South.
In Class 2A, Wilmette's Regina Dominican is a No. 2 subsectional seed. Hosting a regional, the Panthers earned a first-round bye and will open the playoffs Feb. 14.
