Hear Daily Herald opinion editor Jim Slusher speak on election reform at free, online program
Cantigny Park in Wheaton and the League of Women Voters invite the community to their next Civic Awareness Series program Thursday, Feb. 9. Jim Slusher from the Daily Herald Editorial Board will lead a discussion about ideas for election reform.

Recently, the Daily Herald ran a series of editorials focusing on a variety of election issues that have not gotten much attention in the news or public policy discussions in Illinois. The goal was to spark discussion and consider the ways voters select candidates and make decisions through the ballot box.
In separate editorials, the editorial board considered the merits of a growing trend toward ranked choice voting; reflected on the way in which we choose judges - from local circuit courts to the U.S. Supreme Court; appealed for more information to help cover local and federal candidates; reviewed the processes for helping voters understand referendum questions; and emphasized the importance of convenient access to the polls for voters.

Jim Slusher, Assistant Managing Editor for Opinion and Administration, oversees the Daily Herald's editorial writing, selection of syndicated columns, and cartoons and letters to the editor for the Opinion Page.
