Roselle Lions Club to host first blood drive of the year Jan. 17

The Roselle Lions Club is sponsoring its first blood drive of the new year on Jan. 17 as part of National Blood Donor Month.

The blood drive will take place from 1 to 6 p.m. at the Roselle American Legion, 344 E. Maple Ave. in Roselle.

The need for blood does not slow down during winter months but the number of donors willing to brave the cold and snow often does. The need right now is great and the Lions hope to attract at least 30 donors this month.

Each donor will be given a special Versiti Blood Center beanie cap after they donate.

Thirty donors can provide needed blood products for up to 100 persons in need of the life giving blood products.

Reservations are preferred but walk ins are also welcome. Persons willing to donate can pre-register at bit.ly/DonateBlood-1-17-23.

Donors should eat a good meal and drink plenty of liquids prior to donating.

In the past two years, donations from Lions blood drives have helped close to 400 persons suffering illness or accident problems.

Lion President Daniel Ellison said, "We hope to keep every seat filled this year since the need is great right now. The more blood we can collect the more we can help those in need."
