Sleepy avocado, cozy corn, and crawling bats, Oh My!
Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital's Baby Bistro - a breastfeeding support group for new moms and their little ones - celebrated their first Halloween together with a costume party, treats and a "Trick or Treat, Smell My Feet" baby footprint signs for parents to take home as a memento. The babies, ranging in age from 2 weeks to 9 months, had a blast at their first Halloween party. Attendees included cheery pumpkins, a very sleepy avocado, a cozy ear of corn, a crawling bat, and one confused chick.
"It's important for new parents to be able to connect with one another, share experiences and learn together with their little ones," explained Jill Burman, International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) and leader of Baby Bistro. "We're so excited to be a part of their first Halloween together and to help them navigate all the changes that occur after birth for babies and for parents. We're here to support them, and they're here to support one another."
The group meets each Thursday from 10:30 a.m. to noon in Advocate Good Shepherd's Center for Health and Integrative Medicine Conference Room and is a free resource to families, offering connection, breastfeeding tips, and a community of other new parents. It's led by a team of nurses, lactation consultants and childbirth educators:
