Bagpipes & Bonfire benefits Lake Forest conservation efforts
Lake Forest Open Lands Association is pleased to host Bagpipes & Bonfire from 4-7 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 25, at Middlefork Farm Nature Preserve in Lake Forest.
Elizabeth and Shelby Pruett will chair this multigenerational family event. Bagpipes & Bonfire attracts more than 1,700 attendees and serves as Lake Forest Open Lands' annual fundraiser. Scottish bagpipes, Highland athletes, Highland dancers, fly casting, live music, and an Amazing Grace Bagpipe performance at dusk culminates with the lighting of the bonfire.
"We're honored and delighted to be chairing bagpipes," said Elizabeth Pruett.
Back by popular demand is the apple launcher and a doughnut truck.
"There will be games for all ages with a variety of support levels to attend," Shelby said.
Northern Trust is once again the presenting sponsor.
Middlefork Farm Nature Preserve's 50-acre pastoral setting will act as the backdrop for the event, rain or shine. Proceeds from Bagpipes & Bonfire support LFOLA's land conservation efforts encompassing more than 900 acres and their environmental programming. Lake Forest Open Lands' education and community outreach programs have educated more than 75,000 children, to date.
Corporate partners include: Northern Trust, PCA, Knauz, North Shore Gas and Price Insurance. JWC Media and Forest & Bluff Magazine are the exclusive media sponsors.
