Kane County Circuit Clerk to hold expungement clinics in September

During Expungement Month in September, the Kane County Circuit Clerk's office, in conjunction with the Kane County State's Attorney's office, Kane County Law Library, Prairie State Legal and the Kane County Bar Association, will be hosting two Expungement Clinics.

This year's clinics will be held from 9:30 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 17, at the Gail Borden Library, 270 N. Grove Ave. in Elgin, and from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, at the Aurora Public Library, 101 S. River St.

Theresa Barreiro, Circuit Clerk, said that her office is hosting these clinics to help those that have minor offenses possibly expunged and or sealed.

Those that may have qualifying arrests and convictions will have the opportunity to petition the 16th Judicial Court, which is Kane County, for an expungement or sealing of their records.

The Circuit Clerk's office will have informational packets along with volunteers to assist those in filling out the forms. There is a link to the statewide forms on the Kane County Circuit Clerk's website.

Please bring your court documents, case number and valid identification to help them assist you.

This applies only to offenses committed in Kane County.

Information on clinic registration can be found by contacting the libraries in Elgin or Aurora.

Walk-ins will be limited to space available at each location.
