Neighbors in the news: Schaumburg ECG lab provider names director of quality control

• Michelle Mills joined Schaumburg-based HeartcoR Solutions, a leading ECG Core Lab provider, as director of ECG analysis and quality control. The latest addition to HeartcoR Solutions' growing bench of clinical trials experts, Mills will manage and guide quality control initiatives for coding and cardiac safety trials.

With experience in the cardiac diagnostics and cardiac safety industries, Mills most recently managed testing operations for Helios Diagnostics. Earlier in her career, she served as director of Holter operations at MedNet Technologies.

Mills holds an active certification from Cardiovascular Credentialing International and attended the Medical University of South Carolina and Thomas Nelson Community College in Virginia.

"Michelle has extensive experience in all aspects of cardiac diagnostic services and monitoring, as well as clinical operations," said John Icardi, president and COO, HeartcoR Solutions.

"We're proud to add Michelle to our increasingly deep bench of experts, and I'm confident her leadership will help us manage our growth and adhere to stringent quality standards as we support the needs of more study sponsors."

Streamwood resident Natalia Martinez, a student in the Physical Therapist Assistant program at Elgin Community College, received a $3,000 scholarship from the Illinois Physical Therapy Foundation and PT Solutions Physical Therapy as part of the PTS Future Leadership Scholarship Program.

"When I found out I had won this scholarship, it meant relief, accomplishment and proof that if you believe, then you can achieve," said Martinez.

"I am a proud Latina, and it is very rare in my community and family to pursue higher education and graduate from college. It is equally rare to consider a career in health care. I see this as a challenge and a source of inspiration, as I intend to bridge the gap that contributes to disparities in health status among the Hispanic population."

Martinez will be recognized for this honor at the Governors State University Networking Gala on Sept. 18. She plans on graduating from ECC's Physical Therapist Assistant program in spring 2023.

A 2009 graduate of Highland Park High School, Kopp is a former Giants quarterback who has been an assistant coach in the football program since 2013. Kopp was promoted to varsity head coach on June 6 after serving as Highland Park's offensive coordinator for four seasons.
