Tour of solar-powered homes can be a fact-finding mission
Owners of solar-powered homes and businesses in Glenview and Northbrook will share their knowledge during the Glenbrook Solar Tour 2022 on Saturday, Sept. 24.
From 10 a.m.-3 p.m. that Saturday, homes on Linden Leaf Drive, Valley Lo Lane and Longvalley Road in Glenview are just a few whose owners will provide people on the tour with their experiences on living with renewable energy.
The Glenbrook Solar Tour is co-sponsored by Greener Glenview and by Go Green Northbrook. It's part of a statewide Solar Tour sponsored annually by the Illinois Solar Energy Association.
The free tour is designed to educate people about sustainable energy choices they can make to lower their utility bills and reduce carbon emissions at the same time.
"The Glenbrook Solar Tour 2022 offers the public a chance to see affordable and practical solar technology in their own neighborhoods," said Greener Glenview co-founder Mary Munday, the tour coordinator for Glenview.
"During the tour, you will meet people who have decided to go solar, learn why they did it, what they love about it, and lessons learned," she said.
