Palatine Farmers Market Supports People at Home and Abroad
Thanks to our customers and vendors, the Palatine Farmers Market, managed by the Sister Cities Association of Palatine, has enjoyed an outstanding year, and the community has benefitted.
Customers benefit from the freshest locally grown and produced food items with local musicians entertaining. Raffle ticket sales provided the popular granite picnic tables and have funded two unique scholarships to local high school seniors pursuing French culture, history, and language. The market also supports the Community Resource Center (previously Palatine Opportunity Center) and those suffering from natural disasters and military conflict.
The scholarships contribute to college tuition and include a 2-week cultural immersion in our Sister City, Fontenay-le-Comte, France. Shopping the market supports local farmers, producers, musicians and the community.
Each second Saturday of the month, we are proud to welcome members of the Immaculate Conception Ukrainian Byzantine Catholic Church who, with friends from Ukraine, hustle to produce enough pierogies and potato pancakes to satisfy the huge demand. All proceeds go to food and medical supplies needed in Ukraine.
Every week, our produce vendors generously contribute fresh fruits and vegetables to the Community Resource Center and All Saints Lutheran Church to provide fresh food for those in need in our community.
In times of natural disasters, floods in southern U.S. and tsunami in Japan, the Sister Cities Association of Palatine has sent funds raised at the Farmers Market.
Thank you for enjoying the market and supporting the community and beyond. The Palatine Farmers Market is much more than it appears.
