Sunset Foods Makes a 5-Year Financial Commitment as a Highland Park Community Foundation Corporate Champion

Sunset Foods, the premier North Shore neighborhood supermarket, has made a significant 5-year financial commitment to the Highland Park Community Foundation (HPCF). The pledge of Sunset Foods as a Gold Level Corporate Champion will provide monetary resources the HPCF needs to support the work of close to 60 agencies and organizations.

"We are beyond grateful. Sunset Food's generous commitment to the Foundation's Corporate Champion Program will make a significant difference in our ability to support the work of close to 60 organizations that provide essential programs and services for Highland Park and Highwood residents," said Betsy Brint, Chairman, Highland Park Community Foundation.

"Sunset Foods and the Cortesi family have a long history in Highland Park. As a locally-owned neighborhood business, we have been committed to helping local organizations that are dedicated to improving the quality of living in Highland Park for over 80 years. From its inception, the Highland Park Community Foundation and Sunset Foods have worked together to sustain and foster this important and worthwhile mission." John Cortesi, President, Sunset Foods.

Since it was established in 1992, the HPCF has distributed over $3.8 million in grants to address on-going and emergency needs of residents that fall into 5 main categories: education, human services, senior services, services for individuals with disabilities, and the creative and cultural arts. Along with private donations, Corporate Champion pledges provide financial resources the HPCF needs to support its grant awards.

"To make as big an impact as possible, our Board hopes to add many more businesses to our growing list of Corporate Champions, especially now as we celebrate our 30th anniversary," added Betsy.

Proven to be a reliable financial resource, strategically sound, and a valued partner for the organizations who receive funds, the HPCF invites all businesses that are committed to a culture of community support to become Corporate Champions. The Program features 4 tiers - Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum - each with an annual commitment and a pledge guaranteeing 5 years of support. "We are extremely grateful for the generosity of all our donors, including the HPCF Corporate Champions, individuals, family foundations, and business sponsors," said David Reich, immediate Past-Chairman. "Their contributions make it possible for the Foundation to improve the quality of life for so many Highland Park and Highwood children and adults and benefit our community as whole."
