Officers respond to bomb threat at Waubonsie Valley High School

Officers from the Aurora Police Department and DuPage County sheriff's office responded Monday morning to the report of a bomb threat at Waubonsie Valley High School. But classes resumed normally after a search of the building determined it was safe.

According to a statement from the Aurora police, officers responded at about 7:30 a.m. Monday after the Waubonsie Valley front office received the threat.

Based on the information from the threat, district administrators and police officials kept the students in their classrooms under what Lisa Barry, the district's executive director of communication services, termed a brief period of "hold in place and teach."

After the search was completed, the school resumed normal activities.
