Chicagoland Showcase returns to live performance
Nearly 30 middle school and high school choirs from the Midwest will return for a live performance this weekend at the 29th annual Chicagoland Showcase at John Hersey High School in Arlington Heights.
This is the first time since March 2020 that Chicagoland Showcase will be held before a live audience, as last year's event was held virtually due to the pandemic.
"I can't wait for the buzz of excitement to echo through the halls of Hersey High School once again. We're so blessed to be able to host this event here," said Hersey Choir Director Sara Michael.
Chicagoland Showcase begins at 4:45 p.m. Friday, March 4, with performances from high school concert choirs and middle school show choirs.
The excitement continues at 9 a.m. Saturday, March 5, with high school show choirs competing in festival, unisex, and open divisions. Hersey's OnStage mixed show choir will perform in exhibition on both Friday and Saturday evenings.
Six show choirs selected by judges for the finals will compete Saturday evening for the title of Chicagoland Showcase Grand Champion. Meanwhile, a daylong competition among more than 50 soloists will be narrowed to the winning male and female soloists, who also will perform Saturday evening.
The Chicagoland Showcase will take place from 4:45 p.m. to 10 p.m., Friday, March 4, and 9 a.m. to 11 p.m., Saturday, March 5, at John Hersey High School, 1900 E. Thomas St., Arlington Heights.
Tickets for the Friday Middle School Competition are $10 for adults, $8 for students and seniors, while children under 5 are free. Tickets for the Saturday High School Competition are $15 for adults, $10 for students and seniors, while children under 5 are free. An all-weekend pass is $20 for adults and $15 for students and seniors.
