Nonprofit FamilyForward names new executive director

Arlington Heights-based nonprofit FamilyForward (formerly Faith Community Homes) has hired Erica Chianelli as its new executive director.

Chianelli will carry on the work of Charles Warner, who retired Dec. 31 after 12 years of dedicated service and leadership.

Chianelli is excited to take the helm.

"As an Arlington Heights resident, I have supported FamilyForward through my church and am familiar with the impressive work of this wonderful organization. I look forward to continue building productive relationships and welcome the opportunity to help lead our efforts in strengthening and empowering families in becoming self-sufficient."

The board of directors is pleased to welcome Chianelli, who brings extensive nonprofit leadership experience and strong interpersonal and communication skills to her new role, said Tim Wayman, board chair.

"Erica's incredible energy and passion for relationship building will greatly benefit FamilyForward. We are eager to begin this new chapter with her."

Chianelli joins the organization with more than 20 years of experience in the nonprofit sector in both volunteer and management roles. She also runs her own consulting company focused on marketing, special events and nonprofit management.

Previous positions include serving as executive director, School District 95 Educational Foundation, Lake Zurich; executive director, Chinatown Chamber of Commerce, Chicago; vice president of business development at Lakeside Bank, Chicago; and executive director, Elite Soccer Community Organization, Arlington Heights.

During Warner's tenure, he engaged with townships, churches and charitable foundations and built key relationships with multiple chambers of commerce, philanthropic groups and others.

He worked closely with program managers and case managers to grow the number of families served and helped expand FamilyForward's services from Arlington Heights into six neighboring suburbs.

"Over the past 12 years, Chuck Warner has been instrumental in growing our organization to new heights while raising its profile throughout the Northwest suburbs," said Wayman.

"My work with the staff and board of directors has been most rewarding," Warner said. "And the families we have helped have left a lasting impression on me. They are an inspiration because of the resiliency, fortitude and courage they displayed.

"As FamilyForward moves into the future, I know that the mission will continue in good hands."

As Warner passes the baton to Chianelli, FamilyForward will continue in its work to serve low-income, working families in the Northwest suburbs by providing rent assistance and mentoring services for up to two years.

Its targeted program helps parents learn and put into practice solid financial principles and develop important career-advancement and life skills.
