First installment tax bills for 2021 now available online

Cook County Treasurer Maria Pappas has announced that the first installment tax bills for 2021, payable in 2022, are now available online at cookcountytreasurer.com.

Paper copies of the tax bills will be mailed around Feb. 1. If a property owner makes a payment prior to Dec. 31, the paper bill mailed in February will reflect the updated balance due. The first installment payment is due March 1.

Payments can be made online at the Cook County Treasurer's website or in person at any Chase Bank location in Illinois. To pay in person at a Chase Bank branch, you must present a tax bill payment coupon from the current tax year 2021, payable in 2022; tax year 2020, payable in 2021; or tax year 2019, payable in 2020, with your check. Duplicate payment coupons from prior years can be printed from the treasurer's website.

Checks should include: Property Index Number (PIN); Taxpayer name; Property location, including Unit Number (if applicable); Mailing address; Telephone number; Tax year/installment
