St. Charles Holiday Homecoming and Electric Christmas Parade to bring on holiday cheer Nov. 26-27

St. Charles starts the holiday season off right with its annual Holiday Homecoming Weekend.

This two-day event is on the Friday and Saturday after Thanksgiving - Nov. 26-27 - featuring a variety of fun activities and over 30 local business events and specials.

The event kicks off with the "Lighting of the Lights" ceremony on the First Street Plaza at 5 p.m.

Afterward, have your Christmas wish list ready for your chance to visit with Santa until 7 p.m.

Throughout the weekend, walk the Holiday Tree Trail to see 50 decorated trees on display along First Street and the Waterfront walkway. Don't forget to vote for your favorite. The trees are decorated by local community groups and will be up for viewing for the whole month of December.

Voting will take place from Nov. 26-28. Place your vote at the ballot box located next to Santa's House. Trees will be up to enjoy all holiday season.

Then, on Saturday, Nov. 27, there is even more family-friendly fun that everyone can enjoy.

The Arcada Theatre, 105 E. Main St., will open its doors at 9 a.m. for a free showing of "Frozen II."

Don't forget to shop at local St. Charles businesses on Small Business Saturday.

To cap off the Holiday Homecoming Weekend, see the dazzling light displays of 60 parade floats traveling down Main Street in the Electric Christmas Parade. The parade, which steps off at 5:30 p.m., also features high school bands performing holiday tunes, and the special guest, Santa Claus.
