A Christmas Story Pop-up Returns to Hey Nonny

Hey Nonny's beloved A Christmas Story pop-up decorations return to the Arlington Heights bistro on Nov. 23.

"We've got it all," said Hey Nonny co-owner Chris Dungan. "The flagpole, the leg lamp, the Red Ryder BB gun - they're all here and are a blast for selfies and family photos." Hey Nonny premiered the Christmas Story setup in 2019.

Hey Nonny, which has gained a reputation as one of the Northwest suburbs' top restaurants, in addition to its musical offerings, will add holiday fare to its menu.

"Naturally, we're adding dishes that go with our Christmas Story theme," said General Manager Garrett Supples.

Dishes include Chinese Christmas Egg Rolls, Doggone Turkey (turkey rolled with stuffing), and Randy Hates Meatloaf (meatloaf, naturally).

"Chef Tony has created an amazing dessert - a Christmas Story Tart - which is a cranberry and citrus tart with a hazelnut crust," Supples said.

Hey Nonny Head Bartender Zac Bizub has contributed to the Christmas Story theme with new drinks, including the Triple Dog Dare (bourbon, RumChata, eggnog), Drink Your Ovaltine (vanilla vodka, crème de menthe, cocoa), and Leg Lamp (spiced rum apple cider, pear nectar).

"We've also got a shot special - called Shoot Your Eye Out," Bizub said. "Fireball for Christmas!"

As part of the Christmas Story theme, the movie will be playing on Hey Nonny's giant bistro wall throughout the holiday season.

To get the season off to a great start, Hey Nonny will be fielding a team in the annual Rotary Santa Run on Dec. 4. The ever-growing fundraiser and community gathering features runners in Santa suits. Any runners who come by Hey Nonny after the race will receive a free mimosa or Bloody Mary with their brunch. Reservations are available at HeyNonny.com.

Hey Nonny is an award-winning bistro and music venue located in the heart of downtown Arlington Heights. The bistro serves an array of midwestern comfort food with a creative twist. The music venue hosts live music six days a week, featuring the best Chicago and touring acts playing jazz, blues, country, folk, and rock. Every weekend, Hey Nonny features live music at brunch.
