The Illinois Music Educators Association has named 10 Field Wind Ensemble members to the 2021 Junior High Honors Band, a prestigious ensemble made up of the finest northern Illinois middle school musicians.

The students who will be performing in the 2021 Honors Band are 8th graders Rachel Jeon (flute), Brieanna Hui (clarinet), Jonathan Byrne (euphonium), Isaac Koh (percussion), Andre Zare (percussion), Sophia Lim (clarinet), Kaitlyn Lee (flute) and 7th graders James Yum (tuba), Suah Lee (flute) and Jongmin Lee (trumpet).

Each year IMEA holds auditions for a Junior High Honors Band with around 350 students vying for a chance to be selected. This year's auditions were virtual online submissions. Those selected meet on Saturday, Nov. 6, at Libertyville High School for a one-day festival. The band will be conducted by Stacey Dolan, an award-winning band director at VanderCook College of Music in Chicago.
