Glen Ellyn Historical Society to host historical program on Emmett Till

On Saturday, Oct, 2, the Glen Ellyn Historical Society will present a program on Emmett Till. The program will begin at 2 p.m. in the Glen Ellyn History Center, 800 N. Main St.

Historian Mike Small and his wife Tina describing the murder of a 14-year-old Chicago boy, Emmett Till, in 1955. This terrible murder was a major contributor in the development of the modern civil rights movement. Small and his wife were very close to Emmett's mother, Mamie Till, until her death in 2003. He was a pall bearer at her funeral.

Being involved in the Emmett Till story for close to 20 years, they have presented all over the world including universities and high schools. They helped establish the "Emmett Till Trail" in Mississippi and played a major roll in re-opening the Emmett Till case in 2007. They have been featured on NBC TV several times.

There is no charge for this program. It is free. Refreshments are included.
