Pedestrian struck by outbound Metra train at Schaumburg station

A pedestrian was struck by an outbound Metra train at the Schaumburg station early Thursday, halting service along the line.

Metra officials said the collision occurred at about 7:20 a.m.

The pedestrian was described as man in his late 30s who was one his bicycle at the time of the collision, according to Metra officials.

He was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove where he was undergoing surgery at last check, authorities added.

The rail line was fully reopened by 9:30 a.m.
