Naperville seeking student representation on boards, commissions
Naperville Mayor Steve Chirico and the city council are encouraging local high school students to apply for positions on city boards and commissions and participate in a Leadership Academy developed by Naperville-based KidsMatter.
Applications will be accepted until Sept. 24 for the Financial Advisory Board, Historic Preservation Commission, Human Rights and Fair Housing Commission, Naper Settlement Museum Board, Naperville Public Library Board of Trustees, Planning and Zoning Commission, Public Utilities Advisory Board, Riverwalk Commission, Sister Cities Commission, Special Events and Cultural Amenities Commission and Transportation Advisory Board.
A list and description of boards and commissions can be found at naperville.il.us/boards, where students also can apply. While preference is given to high school seniors, all high school students may apply.
The Leadership Academy will have a kickoff event from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 30, in addition to check-in meetings in January and April. Student representative terms will end May 30, 2022.
