Official opening of walking trail set for Tuesday

Leaders from the Sage YMCA, Crystal Lake Chamber of Commerce, and the Cary Grove Chamber of Commerce will gather with community members 4:45 p.m. Tuesday at Sage YMCA to commemorate the official opening of the Pathway in the Woods Walking Trail.

The entrance to the quarter-mile trail is on the grounds of the Sage YMCA, 701 Manor Road, Crystal Lake.

Last year, the Alfred Bersted Foundation gifted $25,000 to renovate part of the wooded area that lines the eastern side of the YMCA to create a walking trail. Established in 1972, the foundation supports and promotes quality educational, human services, and health care programming for underserved populations in DeKalb, DuPage, Kane, and McHenry counties.
