Reading Power kicks off summer with drive-in movie

Families of North Chicago's LEARN 6 and 10 schools attended Reading Power's Family Literacy Night at Loft 21 in Lincolnshire on May 23.

Families watched the Disney family film "Coco" and enjoyed a pizza party during the socially safe drive-in event. Additional family entertainment, including live music and giveaways, were included. The event was free to more than 200 guests and sponsored by Reading Power donors.

After a successful pilot program in 2020, Reading Power will triple its summer virtual tutoring program for 2021. The program, starting June 22 and offered to rising first- and second-grade students, will run for six weeks and help students make up the ground they may have lost during the 2020-2021 academic school year closures.
