Northbrook Symphony to present Mother's Day weekend concerts
Join the Northbrook Symphony and Maestro Mina Zikri as it presents the fourth performance of the 2020-2021 season on Mother's Day weekend.
The Bach Brandenburg Concerto No. 5 in D major, BWV 1050, will be performed featuring guests from the Chicago Symphony: Gina DiBello, violin; Emma Gerstein, flute; and Mark Shuldiner, harpsichord.
"Performing Bach's Brandenburg 5th concerto with such wonderful soloists is definitely the highlight of our season," said Zikri. "This masterpiece is a reminder to embrace our cultural and artistic human heritage."
The prerecorded performance will be broadcast virtually at 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 7, and Saturday, May 8, and 4 p.m. Sunday, May 9.

The Northbrook Symphony was founded in 1980 by former CSO Concertmaster Samuel Magad. The orchestra is celebrating its 41st season; it's the second under Maestro Mina Zikri as music director.
An internationally acclaimed conductor, Zikri is the founder and music director of the Oistrakh Symphony of Chicago and is the resident conductor of the Lira Ensemble. Zikri frequently travels as assistant conductor to Daniel Barenboim with the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra on their annual tours to major music festivals and concert halls worldwide.
