Hanover Township Mental Health Board awards funding at February meeting

The Hanover Township Mental Health Board approved $24,145 in funding during its meeting on Feb. 23.

Catholic Charities was awarded $7,500 in capital funding to purchase Thermoscans and docking stations to conduct temperature screenings at their offices.

Community Alternatives United (CAU) was awarded $12,000 in capital funds to purchase laptops to provide virtual services. CAU works with township residents with developmental or cognitive disabilities.

The Northwest Center Against Sexual Assault (NWCASA) received $1,970 in contract support funds for technological upgrades to allow for staff to work remotely. NWCASA supports residents who are victims of sexual assault.

Ecker Center for Behavioral Health was awarded $2,675 in capital and staff development funding to purchase Automated External Defibrillators for their offices and allow for training on the devices.

The next meeting of the Mental Health Board will take place on March 23 at 6:30 p.m. at the Town Hall, 250 S. IL Route 59, Bartlett.

The volunteer Mental Health Board advocates for increasing the availability and quality of mental health, developmental disabilities and substance abuse services by allocating funds to nonprofit agencies that provide services to township residents.

Hanover Township serves over 101,000 residents in portions of the Cook County communities of Streamwood, Elgin, Bartlett, Hanover Park, Hoffman Estates and Schaumburg.
