COVID-19: Northbrook resident dies, 116 new cases in Glenview and Northbrook in past week
A Northbrook resident died of COVID-19 in the past week, and 116 people were newly diagnosed with the disease in Glenview and Northbrook, the Cook County public health and medical examiner's offices reported.
In Northbrook, deaths now stand at 105 since the pandemic began, and there have been 2,566 positive cases, 53 of them in the past week.
In Glenview, 95 people have died since the pandemic began, but none in the past week. Glenview has had 3,525 people test positive overall, 63 of them in the past week.
As of Tuesday, suburban Cook County has had 219,772 cases and 4,244 deaths, according to the state. In Chicago there have been 235,366 cases and 4,657 fatalities.
There have been 481,648 COVID-19 cases across suburban Cook, DuPage, Kane, Lake, McHenry and Will counties as of Tuesday. That's almost 42.6% of the state's total, according to the Illinois Department of Public Health. There have been 7,998 deaths in the suburbs, which is 41.4% of all COVID-19 deaths in Illinois.
Total cases statewide stand at 1,130,917, and 19,306 Illinoisans have died since the pandemic began.
