Church Hosts Parade of Lights Jan. 17 to counter vandals

Let your love shine at a Pride Parade of Lights at 5 p.m. on Sunday Jan. 17.

Over the last six months, the rainbow flag at First United Methodist Church of Arlington Heights has been torn, pulled down and stolen six times. In addition to working with the Arlington Heights police to identify the responsible parties, the church wants to send a message of love.

Join the church in a Pride Parade of Lights and light the night with love. Come to First United Methodist Church of Arlington Heights Church parking lot, 1903 E, Euclid Ave., between 4:45 and 5 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 17, for an on-foot parade around the church and Methodist Park. Wear battery-powered lights, sparkles, sequins and glow-in-the-dark colors. Carry candles, glow sticks and anything you have that can light the night. Remember to wear your mask and keep six feet apart.

Take the parade to your home by decorating your windows and front yard with rainbows. Put drawings in your windows or paint the snow.
