COVID-19: Eight more deaths in Northbrook, three in Glenview

Eleven people in Glenview and Northbrook died of COVID-19 in the past week and 246 new cases of the disease were diagnosed, the Cook County public health and medical examiner's offices reported.

In Northbrook, eight people died in the week ending on Tuesday, and 111 new cases were diagnosed. Since the pandemic began 91 Northbrook residents have died and 2,054 have tested positive.

In Glenview, three more people died in the week, bringing deaths to 73 since the pandemic began. Glenview has had 2,842 people test positive overall, 135 of them in the past week.

In the previous week, Dec. 9-15, 12 deaths occurred among residents of Glenview and Northbrook and 294 new cases of the disease were diagnosed.

Suburban Cook County had 179,378 cases and 3,519 deaths, according to the state. In Chicago, there were 195,982 cases and 3,966 fatalities.

Suburban Cook, DuPage, Kane, Lake, McHenry and Will counties had recorded 390,606 COVID-19 cases as of Tuesday, 43% of the state's total. The suburbs have had 6,527 deaths as of Tuesday, about 42% of the state's total numbers.

Statewide, 15,414 Illinoisans have died of the virus and 911,308 cases have been recorded.
