Merry Christmas from the Catholic community of Northbrook!
The Catholic Community of Northbrook wishes everyone a Merry Christmas!
We are a Catholic Community formed by the merging of two parishes: St. Norbert and Our Lady of the Brook. During the pandemic, our community has worked very hard to keep in contact with parishioners and community members, and to keep everyone safe. Online Mass began just days after the March 'lockdown,' taking place in the rectory living room, with an iPhone!
It has since moved into St. Norbert Church, and with the guidance of the Archdiocese, in-person services have been successfully taking place for many months. Our utmost concern is for everyone's safety - masks are required, everyone is seated six feet apart and must use hand sanitizer upon entry and before receiving the Eucharist. As well, each service is allowed a limited number of worshippers.
These precautions have allowed us to safely gather each day, and continue with our Masses, Private Prayer, Confession, Baptisms, Weddings and Funerals.
Parishioners stay in contact through the parish website, northbrookcatholic.church, the parish Facebook page, and a weekly e-newsletter, weekly short videos made by our priests, and a paper bulletin for those who attend Mass.
In the spring, the parish reached out to every parishioner by phone, checking in on each family, and offering help where needed. Yard signs of support were placed all over Northbrook, thanking the essential workers.
Parishioners and their children have remained in touch with our homebound elderly members through cards, letters and drawings, helping the most vulnerable know they are loved.
We invite you to check out our vibrant community, which includes St. Norbert Catholic School, and an online Religious Education program. Reach the parish office at (847) 272-7090 or parishoffice@northbrookcatholic.church. St. Norbert Church is at 1809 Walters in Northbrook, and Our Lady of the Brook (currently closed) is at 3700 Dundee.
