COVID-19: 12 deaths in Glenview and Northbrook

Twelve people in Glenview and Northbrook died of COVID-19 in the past week and 294 new cases of the disease were diagnosed, the Cook County public health and medical examiner's offices reported.

In Northbrook, six people died in the week ending on Tuesday, and 126 new cases were diagnosed. Since the pandemic began 83 people have died and 1,943 have tested positive in Northbrook.

In Glenview, six more people died in the week, bringing deaths to 70 since the pandemic began. Glenview has had 2,707 people test positive overall, 168 of them in the past week.

In the previous week, Dec. 2-8, eight deaths occurred among residents of Glenview and Northbrook and 370 new cases of the disease were diagnosed.

Suburban Cook County had 170,934 cases and 3,322 deaths, according to the state. In Chicago, there were 187,080 cases and 3,808 fatalities.

Suburban Cook, DuPage, Kane, Lake, McHenry and Will counties had recorded 371,514 COVID-19 cases as of Tuesday, 43% of the state' total. The suburbs have had 6,187 deaths as of Tuesday, about 43% of the state's total numbers.

Statewide, 14,509 Illinoisans have died of the virus and 863,477 cases have been recorded.
