Literacy Volunteers start tutor training Jan. 11

Literacy Volunteers Fox Valley will host a tutor training workshop from 6:30 to 9 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays, Jan. 11-20, at the Pottawatomi Community Center, 8 North Ave., St. Charles.

The workshop will be limited to six participants to allow for social distancing and masks will be required.

Literacy Volunteers Fox Valley helps adults communicate in English by matching them with trained volunteer tutors who provide lessons once each week.

Tutors can choose to meet with an adult student in person or virtually.

If you know English, you can teach English to an adult who is waiting to learn. The program provides material and instruction so anyone can be a volunteer tutor.

If you have one hour each week, they can fit tutoring into your schedule.

The volunteer tutors are making a very real difference in the lives of adults who want to learn English.
