Glenbrook South Hellenic Club collects toys for Salvation Army

Titans for Tots

The Glenbrook South Hellenic Club, led by teacher Afrodite Skaouris, collected more than 200 toys to be donated to children this holiday season. Club members asked people in the community to contribute to the drive. The toys will be donated to the Salvation Army.

No pause here

During Adaptive Pause in Glenbrook High Schools District 225, teachers have busily kept their students engaged.

Glenbrook South wood shop teacher Stephen Silca packaged 140 kits for students to make a wall shelf and end table remotely. Each kit included 20 pieces of wood. Silca made 2,800 cuts to prepare that wood, sorted 10,080 screws and compiled other supplies for students to complete at home through online tutorials and live demonstrations.

Most suitable for Adaptive Pause, Glenbrook South fashion design teacher Melissa Pfister has one of her classes making pajama pants. She's sent 50 kits for students to sew at home. She also plans on opening her school studio after school next semester to current Fashion 1 students to provide them more opportunities to sew.
