COVID-19: 8 deaths in Glenview and Northbrook

Eight people in Glenview and Northbrook died of COVID-19 in the past week and 370 new cases of the disease were diagnosed, the Cook County public health and medical examiner's offices reported.

In Northbrook, five people died in the week ending on Tuesday, and 153 new cases were diagnosed. Since the pandemic began 77 people have died and 1,817 have tested positive in Northbrook.

In Glenview, three more people died in the week, bringing deaths to 64 since the pandemic began. Glenview has had 2,539 people test positive overall, 217 of them in the past week.

In the previous week, Nov. 24 through Dec. 1, 14 deaths occurred among residents of Glenview and Northbrook and 419 new cases of the disease were diagnosed.

Suburban Cook County had 159,452 cases and 3,132 deaths as of Tuesday, according to the state. In Chicago, there have been 175,752 cases and 3,645 fatalities.

Suburban Cook, DuPage, Kane, Lake, McHenry and Will counties had recorded 346,957 COVID-19 cases as of Tuesday, 43% of the state' total. The suburbs have had 5,818 deaths as of Tuesday, about 43% of the state's total numbers.

The state's death toll from the virus is 13,487, with 804,174 residents infected since the outbreak began.
