Lake Forest police question suspect in fatal hit-and-run

Police have questioned a suspect in a Nov. 12 fatal hit-and-run crash in Lake Forest, officials said earlier this week.

Lake Forest resident Stephen Kennedy was walking on the 500 block of north Mayflower Road, near Rosemary Road, just after 10:45 a.m. when he was struck by a two-door, white Ford F150 pickup truck, according to a news release from the Lake County coroner's office. The driver then headed south on Mayflower.

The suspected driver, a Cook County man, was identified and questioned, Lake Forest police said Tuesday. An investigation by the coroner's office, Lake Forest police, Lake County Major Crime Task Force and the Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team has revealed several things that led to the questioning, police added: Numerous video clips showing the victim, the suspect and the pickup truck - both before and after the crash - have been recovered. Several witnesses have been identified and questioned. The pickup truck was located, a search warrant obtained, and the vehicle seized and processed for evidence, including the vehicle's data recorder, police said.

The Lake Forest Police Department said it will continue investigating, then submit evidence to the Lake County state's attorney's office to consider charging the suspect.
