213 new COVID-19 cases in Glenview, Northbrook in the past week

An additional 213 people tested positive for COVID-19 in the past week in Glenview and Northbrook, but there were no new deaths from it, Cook County public health and medical examiner's offices reported.

There were 113 new cases in Glenview and 100 in Northbrook from Oct. 28 through Tuesday.

In Glenview, 1,322 people have tested positive and 52 people have died since the pandemic began. In Northbrook, 843 have tested positive and 43 have died.

In the previous week, Oct. 21-27, Glenview cases increased by 67 and Northbrook cases increased by 56.

As of Tuesday, suburban Cook County had 91,001 cases and 2,433 deaths, according to the state. In Chicago there were 107,183 cases and 3,084 fatalities. Suburban Cook, DuPage, Kane, Lake, McHenry and Will counties had reported 189,062 COVID-19 cases in the suburbs as of Tuesday. That's 44% of the state's total, according to the Illinois Department of Public Health. There have been 4,511 deaths in the suburbs, representing 46% of all COVID-19 deaths in Illinois

The entire state is under tightened restrictions, with indoor dining and bar service banned, public gatherings limited to 25 or fewer people or 25% of a building's capacity, reduced operating hours and other restrictions to try to reduce the spread of COVID-19.
