COVID-19 totals: 1,009 in Glenview, 596 in Northbrook

COVID-19 cases in Glenview topped the 1,000 mark this week.

Thirty-one new cases brought the total to 1,009. Fifty-one people have died, but none in the last week, according to the Illinois Department of Public Health and the Cook County medical examiner's office.

In Northbrook, 19 new cases brought the total to 596, with 42 deaths, none of them in the last week.

Suburban Cook County has had 67,355 cases and 2,289 deaths, according to the state. In Chicago, there have been 82,233 cases and 2,979 fatalities.

Suburban Cook, DuPage, Kane, Lake, McHenry and Will counties had recorded 136,768 COVID-19 cases in the suburbs as of Tuesday. That's 44.8% of the state's total, according to public health officials.

There have been 4,191 deaths in the suburbs, representing 47.4% of all COVID-19 deaths in Illinois.

In Illinois, 8,836 people have now died from COVID-19 as of Tuesday, according to the Illinois Department of Public Health. They are among 305,011 who have tested positive.
