Schaumburg Offering Annual Recycling Event Oct. 10

The Village of Schaumburg will host its annual Recycling Event on Saturday, Oct. 10 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the west parking lot of Boomers Stadium, 1999 S. Springinsguth Rd., Schaumburg.

The community-wide event, which is a drive-up event, will include document destruction, electronics recycling, paint recycling and a variety of other items. Some items will incur fees. Participants are required to wear a face mask or covering.

DocuShred will provide drop-and-go document destruction that will be available until the truck reaches capacity. Schaumburg residents can bring up to two banker boxes per vehicle to be shredded. The cost of this service is co-sponsored by the Schaumburg Township District Library.

EarthPaint will accept both latex and oil-based paint for recycling for a fee. Charges range from $2.50 per quart and $5 per gallon for latex paint and up to $5 per quart and $9 per gallon for oil-based paint and stains. Charges will be based on the type of can that is disposed, not on the amount of material in the can.

Elgin Recycling will offer recycling of electronic products including computers, small appliances, electronic toys, copper wire and more. Televisions and monitors up to 20 inches will incur a charge of $25 and $35 for televisions and monitors 21 inches and above. Hazardous waste will not be accepted at the recycling event. Residents with hazardous waste can use the Naperville Household Waste Facility, 156 Fort Hill Drive in Naperville, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. Call (630) 420-6095 for more information on Naperville's facility.
