HEParks Board Commissioner Kilbridge Resigns

After 13 years of service to the community, Board of Commissioners Vice President Lili Kilbridge will be moving from the Hoffman Estates area and has therefore officially resigned her elected position from the Hoffman Estates Park District (HEParks) Board of Commissioners.

Elected to the HEParks Board of Commissioners in April of 2007, Lili served in various roles throughout her tenure, including Assistant Secretary, Vice President, and Board President. She was a devoted member of the Board of Commissioners and over the years has been the Chair of the Recreation Committee, the Administration and Finance Committee, and the Buildings and Grounds Committee. In both 2008 and 2013, Lili served as the Chair of the Forward Planning Committee. This critical committee creates the five-year comprehensive master plans used by the park district to guide programming and development decisions.

During the past 13 years, Lili Kilbridge was instrumental in expanding the park district into the north and western sections of Hoffman Estates. During her tenure, HEParks received over one million dollars in grants, including the recent $400,000 OSLAD grant for the renovation of South Ridge Park and $225,000 for Birch Park. In 2009, HEParks obtained the National Gold Medal Award for Excellence in Park & Recreation Management. The District also received national accreditation from the Commission for Accreditation of Park & Recreation Agencies (CAPRA) and the Illinois Distinguished Park & Recreation Agency Award.

"Lili was a passionate and dedicated member of the HEParks Board of Commissioners," HEParks Executive Director and Board Secretary Craig Talsma said following Kilbridge's resignation announcement. "She loves this park district, and she loves this community. With over 40 years of park and recreation experience, Lili brought a perspective and understanding to the board that only comes from someone who dedicated their life to the field. Her attention to detail, enthusiasm, and commitment to the Hoffman Estates Community will be greatly missed."

Commissioner Kilbridge's resignation leaves two unexpired years on her Board of Commissioner's term. This unexpired term will be up for election during the Consolidated Election on April 6, 2021.
