Saint Viator opens expanded Counseling Center for students
Saint Viator High School in Arlington Heights spent the summer constructing a new space for the school's Counseling Department and recently opened the Counseling Center.
The expanded space provides more opportunities for students to meet with school counselors and college representatives and allows the department to better attend to the academic, as well as emotional and personal issues students face.
"Our department aims to meet the academic, social, emotional and career and college preparation needs of our students," said Stephanie Spiewak, Saint Viator's Counseling Department chairwoman. "This new space will allow us to better serve our students in a variety of ways."
In addition to meeting with students, the staff now has a dedicated conference room for departmental meetings and appointments with visiting college representatives. Students and parents will also find a comfortable waiting area to use ahead of meetings.
The construction work was able to commence this summer thanks to a generous gift from an anonymous donor, which kicked off an ongoing fundraising effort.
"We are so grateful for the generosity of this individual and all those in the Viator family who have helped us begin this process," said Spiewak.
