Lombard Garden Club hosts lilac sale online

The Lombard Garden Club is hosting its annual Lombard Lilac Sale online.

Ready to be sold in May, the bushes have been nurtured throughout the summer. They have a large selection of dwarf, semi-dwarf and full-size bushes in white, pink, magenta, bluish-purple and the ever popular common purple.

Due to the delay, the plants are bigger than usual and ready for fall planting.

They have a large selection of cultivars in a variety of sizes and colors in the catalog on the Lombard Garden Club website, www.lombardgardenclub.org.

Place your order now and pick up it by appointment Sept. 10-12 in Lilacia Park.

See the catalog on the next place for all the available cultivars. When you place your order, indicate your preference of pickup time. Club members will attempt to accommodate your request and will confirm by email.

Pick up your lilacs on Parkside which is on the north side of Lilacia Park next to the train tracks. The sale pickup location will be between the park district administration building at 227 W. Parkside and the park gate. Enter Parkside from Elizabeth Street so that you are driving east toward the pickup location. Follow the signs to the pickup area. Stay in your car and please wear your mask to protect yourself, staff and volunteers.

Please be prepared to give your order number when you arrive at the sale. Helpful staff will deliver your lilacs to your car.

In early spring, the club received nearly 400 bare root lilacs from a nursery in Minnesota. Club members potted them in good quality soil in five-gallon pots so they are ready for the sale in May. This year, though, the sale was postponed and the lilacs had to wait to go to their new homes.

The Lombard Park District allowed the potted lilacs to stay at their facility while club members take care of them. They are strong and healthy and ready for the September online sale.
