Gish - for good!

Gish - what is this name and why are so many people talking about it? Why are there people running throughout the suburbs doing activities, tasks, and funny things?

Gish is the "GREATEST International Scavenger hunt" run and orchestrated by the one and only actor Misha Collins. The hunt is not an activity to find items, but to complete tasks - some are nerdy - others fun- and many are "for good."

The one-week hunt raises money for organizations that are in need - from Feeding America to the NAACP. Teams of 15 group together as campers (in covid times - respecting safety and social distancing) to complete tasks - from creating feet out of meatloaf to performing 10 random acts of kindness. There are civic duty tasks - including helping an animal get adopted to writing to members of the senate and congress to abolish antiquated laws.

While there is nothing causing unreasonable pain and suffering, many tasks seemed like a good idea at the time. Singing in public, creating obstacle courses, creating art that can only be seen from a drone are some of the creative task's teams take on. With over 300 tasks to choose from - there is something for everyone - including a kids list!

Bragging rights are one of the takeaways from the hunt. However, participants from Gish have won awards by breaking several Guinness World Records - including "Largest Photo Scavenger Hunt" and "Largest Chain of Safety Pins." There is one winner from the hunt with a large prize - but the overall message and purpose is to have fun and do good for others.
