Glenview's reverse parade offers creative, safe July 4 celebration

Who'd want to blow a beautiful Fourth of July without a little fanfare?

Even with public health concerns over COVID-19 prohibiting most traditional Independence Day celebrations, Glenview's reverse Fourth of July parade found a creative, socially distant way to still bring people together.

Cars decorated with combinations of American flags and patriotic bunting, ribbons and balloons, passed through the parade grounds to see the 32 floats and hear music, effectively re-creating the parade experience.

"It's different, but I'm glad we were able to pull it off," said David Kreiman from Glenview State Bank and a member of the July 4 Committee.

"To have 32 floats on sort of a last-minute 'How can we make this happen on the Fourth of July?'" he added. "To have 32 floats, I think it's great."
