Wheaton police investigating possible arson

Wheaton police are investigating a report of a possible arson after residents heard explosions Monday night in the 1100 and 1200 blocks of South Washington Street.

Police responded to the area at about 10 p.m. Monday and found remnants of Molotov cocktails, according to a news release from the Wheaton Police Department. The explosions led to fires and property damage, but residents extinguished the fires without assistance.

Anyone with information regarding the explosions are encouraged to contact Wheaton police lieutenant Bill Cooley at 630-260-2077 or Wheaton police detective Jackie Johnson at 630-260-2871. Anonymous tips can be called in at 800-222-TIPS or texted to 274637 with the keyword "DuPage" and the tip information.
