If landing the labor vote is a key to winning Super Bowl 54, Jimmy Garoppolo and the Forty-Niners win.

Father Tony Garoppolo of Arlington Heights was a card-carrying member of Local 134 of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers for close to four decades.

He retired in June 2019, after a long run working at the Rosemont Hyatt.

“I tried junior college for a while and it wasn't for me so my parents said, ‘You're going to get a job, a good job, like in the trades.'” “Tony G” said.

A close family friend had an electrical firm and the dad's apprenticeship began.

Last May, Jimmy G and his dad were the featured speakers at “Skills USA National Signing Day” in San Jose.

The event — sponsored by Klein Tools — was a salute to hundreds of young people who are opting out of full-time college to train in the trades.

“I was honored to be part of it,” Garoppolo said.

“When I think of all the frigid Chicago mornings my father was out of the house before dark so my brothers and I could have the life we had, it makes anything I do seem easy.”

Now if he can only force the Kansas City defense to disconnect Sunday (Fox, 5:30 p.m.).
