Local League of Women Voters presents 'The 2020 Census Counts and So Do You' Feb. 4

The League of Women Voters Roselle/Bloomingdale will host their annual February special "Love Your League" meeting from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 4, at the Roselle Public Library, 40 N. Park St. in Roselle.

The event will feature Caryl Riley, senior partnership specialist, from the Chicago Regional Census Center of the U.S. Census Bureau.

April 1 marks the kickoff of the 2020 Census. This process of counting individuals will ensure that the political power, health, and safety of every community is maintained or enhanced in the upcoming decade.

Riley will explain why accurate counts in the 2020 Census are important, what the results of the census mean for our communities, and ways League members could help the process.

Communities that don't get fully counted in 2020 will miss out on things like political representation, money for student classrooms, jobs, and healthcare centers for the next 10 years.

Start the new year out right with a thought-provoking evening learning from Riley with the League of Women Voters of Roselle/Bloomingdale. We encourage members to bring a friend and enjoy sweet treats along with a special birthday cake celebrating the League's 100th anniversary.

This meeting is free and open to the public. For more information about other League's events and monthly meetings, contact Roberta Borrino at (630) 283-2894.
