Twenty-first Star Chapter NSDAR Honors World War II Veterans

The Twenty-first Star Chapter, Park Ridge, Illinois celebrated Veterans Day 2019 by honoring World War II veterans. Five Certificates of Honor for valor, service and sacrifice from the chapter along with a World War II Veteran pin and a U.S. 21-Star Flag pin were given by Service to Veterans Director; Sue Fritzler, Chapter Regent; Gail Enault and Commemorative Events Chair, Janet Zito.

Mr. Albert Bruno, a U.S. Army sergeant stationed in Texas, was the first recipient. He trained men in anti-tank warfare from 1944-1956.

A certificate and pins were presented to Mr. Donald Hurst who served in the in 805th Bomber Group as a staff sergeant and waist gunner from 1944-1957. He has written a book entitled, Either Them or US, about his war experience.

Mr. Robert Marshall served in the U.S. Marines from 1943-1947. He was a staff sergeant and radio gunner in China and the Philippines. He is a member of American Legion Franklin Park Post 974.

Mr. John McKillop and Mr. Joseph Hester were also honored but could not attend the ceremony. Mr. McKillop served in the U.S. Army as a Tech 3 and Mr. Hester was a Fireman 1st Class in the U.S. Navy.

The Twenty-first Star Chapter has great admiration and appreciation for all veterans. It was an honor to recognize those who served during World War II at our meeting.
