Winfield man charged with shooting at West Chicago house

A Winfield man has been charged with aggravated discharge of a firearm after authorities said he shot three times at a house at 10:26 p.m. Sept. 13 on the 300 block of East Stimmel Street in West Chicago.

Christopher Paulsen, 18, of the 0S600 block of Jefferson Street, also was charged with possession of a weapon and ammunition by a street-gang member, according to DuPage County court records. The records charge that Paulsen shot at the house knowing it was occupied and there was a person standing outside.

He also was charged Friday with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in connection with a hit-and-run crash that happened Aug. 7 in West Chicago. According to court records, he hit a vehicle knowing someone was inside, injuring a person.

As of late Monday, he was in the DuPage County jail, and would need to post $12,500 to be released.

His next court date is Oct. 15.
