Woodridge man held on child porn charges
A 63-year-old Woodridge man has been charged with five counts of possession of child pornography, authorities said Thursday.
John Bowery, of the 2000 block of Roberts Drive, is being held on $35,000 bail in the DuPage County jail.
Authorities said they received a tip in June of possible child pornography linked to an IP address in DuPage.
Authorities executed the search warrant early Thursday morning and found images depicting child pornography on Bowery's computer.
"The young victims of child pornography cannot protect themselves from anyone involved in this filth, and I am proud our department was part of the effort that resulted in today's charges," Woodridge Police Chief Brian Cunningham said.
Bowery's next court appearance is scheduled for Oct. 7 in front of Judge Liam Brennan.
"The allegation that Mr. Bowery was in possession of child pornography is revolting," State's Attorney Robert Berlin said in a written statement. "As I have said many times in the past, each of these disgusting images represents yet another innocent victim of child pornography."
