Youth and adults invited to play in Waukegan beach soccer tournament, Aug. 10-11

Calling all soccer lovers!

Heart of the City and the City of Waukegan are co-hosting a Soccer in the Sand tournament August 10-11 on the beautiful lakefront on Waukegan Municipal Beach. This is a family-friendly event you won't want to miss this summer!

The tournament has divisions for adults under 30 (men, women, and coed) over 30 (men, women and coed) and separate boys and girls divisions for kids born between 2002-2013.

The format is small-sided 5v5 (including goalkeepers) with games consisting of two 12-minute halves with a two-minute break. All teams will be guaranteed three bracket games with the opportunity to advance to the semifinals and finals.

Girls, women and co-ed adults will compete on Aug. 10; boys and men will compete on Aug. 11.

The minimum roster count is five players and the maximum is 11. Soccer in the Sand recommends 7-9 players.

Cost is $349 per team (approximately $32-$70 per person depending on roster count). Register online at www.soccerinthesand.com/waukegan-il. Deadline is July 27.
